Terms & Conditions
1. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

Subject to the clause below, entry is open to Primary 5 and 6 students (in 2019) studying in Singapore.

Children of employees, franchisees, employees of franchisees of Mind Stretcher Education Pte Ltd (“MS”) or its related companies are not eligible to participate.
2. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
-
Only one entry per student is allowed.

Entries for the Preliminary Round are to be submitted here and must reach us by 9 June 2019.

All entries must be accompanied by a duly completed entry form. For the purpose of this Preliminary Round, a word limit of 600 words must be strictly adhered to. Any content beyond the word limit will be disregarded.

On the top left corner of your composition, kindly include the following details:

Your FULL name (as in Birth Cert.)

Education Level in school (e.g. Primary 5)
-
Name of the school you are attending
-
The question/picture number that you have selected
-

Entries submitted online should adhere to the following:

Font size 14
-
Double-spaced per line
-
in MS Word (.doc) format
-

In the event that this is not possible, a legibly hand-written scanned copy submission on composition paper is also acceptable.

All entries must be of your own original creation, written in the English language, unpublished, and not previously accepted by any other publisher at the time of submission.

It MUST NOT be copied or adapted from any composition or be taken/copied/adapted from any part of a composition from published books, school work, notes and model compositions from tuition/enrichment centres, and the internet.

Should the entry be previously published, proved to be an unoriginal work and/or adapted / copied from other sources, the participant will be disqualified and may be liable for all damages resulting from legal action taken by copyright owners.
3. GRAND FINAL

Student writers who are shortlisted for the Grand Final will be notified via email by 17 Jun 2019.

The student finalists will compete in person during the Grand Final, for the Grand Prizes on 8 Jul 2019 at MS East Campus @ Tampines Junction.
4. PRIZES

There will be a total of 20 winners for the competition.

Prizes are not transferable. Non-cash prizes are not exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

Winners must be present during the prize ceremony, which will be held after the competition, to receive the prizes.
5. SELECTION OF PRIZE WINNERS

The composition entries will generally be judged based on content and relevance of topic, language use and creativity.

Entries submitted either during the Preliminary Round or written during the Grand Final will not be returned.

MS’ decision on the winning entries is final and we regret that any correspondence or appeal in respect of the results will not be entertained.

Selected compositions will be compiled in Volume 2 of “Best A* Model Compositions (P5 & P6)”, an annotated model composition guidebook. From our experience, many students would welcome this rare opportunity to showcase their compositions and it would definitely motivate them in their future writing. Writers of the featured compositions will get a complimentary copy of this book as and when it is published.
6. RIGHTS AND CONSENT

The rights to all entries for this competition vest entirely in MS, and MS retains the exclusive, perpetual, world-wide, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose consistent with its mission, including but not limited to educational, archival and research purposes, and for publicising Mind Stretcher or any programme or faculty of Mind Stretcher, including the right to make derivative works for such purposes, whether in printed and electronic form.

By participating in this competition, the participants and winners consent to MS publishing their names, photographs, biographical information and statements for publicity, awareness and promotional purposes relating to the competition, publication of the compositions and its related activities.

MS reserves the right to change, amend, modify, any part of the competition rules and regulations either in an individual case or in general, at any time without notice.
